About Us

The 20th Gillingham Scout Group started life in October 1962 as a single cub pack meeting in Hempstead Village Hall behind All Saint's Church.

Since 1962 the group has grown to have 2 beavers colony's, 2 cub pack's a scout troop and a District Explorer Unit.

In 1983 the group became Air Scouts when after lots of hard work they became RAF affiliated. Our love of air activities never stopped and after many visits to RAF bases, Airports, Air Shows and Museums. We still look for new ways to get our group airborne.

The group is run by volunteers and we welcome help especially from parents and those people who were scouts or leaders. Help can be on either a regular or occasional basis depending on the amount of time you have available. Apart from help at regular weekly meetings assistance is also needed with administration, fund raising, outdoor activities and much more.

Volunteering in scouting is fun and rewarding. You will have the chance to learn new skills, rediscover adventure, make new friends and give something back to your community.
